'Izuki’ machiya house: a renovated traditional Japanese holiday house (vacation rental). This charming vacation rental is conveniently located near Kyoto Station and just steps away from the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nishi Honganji Temple. Steeped in over 130 years of history, ‘Izuki’ machiya house stands proudly on Shomen-dori street, known for its impressive wooden temple entrance.

As you slide open the lattice wooden doors, you'll step into a spacious interior that seamlessly blends traditional Japanese architecture with modern comforts. The 1F features a quintessential machiya design, incorporating a 'doma' floor that unifies the living room, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. Gather around the dining table to enjoy local cuisine or plan your adventures to easily accessible sightseeing attractions such as Nijo Castle, the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the Gion area, and more.

Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Japanese-style tsuboniwa garden, visible from the bathroom and living room. The 2F offers two separate bedrooms: a traditional Japanese-style tatami room accommodating up to 3 guests on futon bedding, and a Western-style room with 2 double beds for up to 4 guests.

A little background on how ‘Izuki’ earned its name: The name ‘Izuki’ is inspired by the Japanese phrase “出づる” (izuru), meaning “to emerge” or “to set out.” It reflects the idea of embarking on a joyful journey, particularly as one passes through the wooden Somon gate of Nishi Honganji Temple, located just steps from the machiya house.
