'Nure-en' Engawa Veranda - Machiya House Features
We’ve showed an engawa veranda before, but this machiya has a particular type of engawa veranda called “nure-en”. The wooden veranda is built on the outer side of shutters/glass doors. The charm of having a ‘nure-en’ veranda is that it connects the garden with the interior seamlessly. You can slide open the door, and be in the garden without having to physically step into the garden.
Even on rainy days, you can enjoy the outdoors from the veranda of ‘Fujinoma’ Machiya House!
Stay in a traditional Japanese townhouse (machiya) during your next visit to Kyoto, Japan.
